The development of thinking is a process of cognitive development that will be experienced by every human being. According to Jean Piaget cognitive development can be divided into four stages namely motor sensor (0-2 years), concrete pre-operational (2-7 years), concrete operations (7-11 years), and formal operations (11-15 years). When children have entered elementary school age, they will enter a phase called concrete operations. In this phase children have begun to understand abstract things such as space, time, counting, reading, and understanding some complex things. In the current era of government, the government has issued a policy in helping children develop their thinking/cognitive development through learning in schools by implementing an independent curriculum. In the independent curriculum children are taught to be more able to think creatively and critically. The application of an independent curriculum makes children understand more to read, count, love the motherland, and understand religion. The results of research in the third grade of elementary school show that children can smoothly read, understand count operations, understand reading, etc. However, there are also some children who experience delays in thinking in thinking such as not smooth counting, writing and understanding reading.
